Every journey into parenthood is unique. Our Find a Doula directory helps you connect with member doulas who can support you through birth, early parenthood, and every step in between.
Use the search tool below to find a doula who’s available when you need support and who works in your area.
Tip: Most doulas offer free consultations. We recommend meeting with 2–3 doulas to find someone who feels right for you and your family.
All doulas listed in this directory are members of the DSA and have completed the following minimum requirements:
A recognized doula training from an approved trainer
For Birth Doulas: support at three births, with reflections and feedback
For Postpartum Doulas: 12+ hours of postpartum support and documentation
A narrative statement on the value of doula support
Continuing education, such as childbirth education, breastfeeding, loss support, or infant care
A recent Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
A valid CPR-C certification (required for Postpartum Doulas)
All doulas listed here are self-employed professionals and responsible for the content of their own profiles and websites. DSABC does not monitor its members' websites or their doula profiles and cannot be held liable for any of the content.
To be listed here, they must:
Be active DSA members in good standing
Agree to uphold the DSA’s Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics
Note: Membership in the DSA is not required to be a doula in BC. However, doulas who are part of this directory have chosen to meet our additional standards for accountability and professionalism.
If you ever have concerns about a member’s conduct or content, please contact the DSA President at president@wearebcdoulas.ca.
We are committed to uplifting Indigenous doulas and supporting culturally rooted care.
Many of our members identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit and bring Indigenous knowledge and ways of knowing into their doula practice. Others are deeply committed to decolonizing their work and creating culturally safe, trauma-informed spaces for Indigenous families.

A doula is a trained support person who provides emotional, physical, and informational care before, during, and after birth, and through other reproductive experiences like miscarriage, abortion, or adoption.
Doulas do not provide medical care, but they’re skilled in helping you feel more confident, comfortable, and informed. Their presence has been shown to improve birth outcomes and increase satisfaction with care.
Birth doulas support you during pregnancy, labour, and birth. They support both the birthgiver and the partner. Think of them like the best coach you've ever had.
Postpartum doulas help with recovery, infant feeding, sleep, and adjusting to the life with a newborn. They help with the whole family, not just your newborn.
Full-spectrum doulas offer support across all reproductive experiences.
Pregnancy and Infant Loss doulas provide support through miscarriage, stillbirth, and abortion. They can provide emotional, physical, and educational support throughout a loss as well as afterwards.
Not at all. Doulas are there to support everyone, including partners, so that you all feel confident and connected.
Rates vary depending on location, experience, and type of support. Many doulas offer sliding scale rates, payment plans, or community-based support. See below for info on waived-fee options.
The earlier the better, especially for birth doulas who often book up quickly. But it’s never too late to ask for support.
Yes! Most doulas offer free consultations so you can get to know them before deciding.
We know this can feel like a big step, but you don’t have to figure it out alone.

We acknowledge that our work takes place on the unceded, ancestral territories of many Indigenous Peoples across what is now called British Columbia. We honour the birthing knowledge, traditions, and practices of these Indigenous communities, and we recognize the harms that colonial systems, including healthcare, have caused and continue to cause. As birthworkers, we are committed to reconciliation, to centering Indigenous voices and leadership, and to building a birth landscape that is equitable, inclusive, and just for all.
